More Adventures

So, Monday I went to work.  Things were progressing as usual with my boss attempting once again to be as abusive and rude as possible.  I got back from lunch and discovered I had been "terminated".  Interesting.  I have come to the conclusion, as I have pondered the entire situation, that my boss has been unrealistically difficult to work for since I let his "little buddy" go this past winter--actually in February.  He is difficult to work for normally but it has been TERRIBLE since February.  I began thinking along those lines because not more than an hour after I was escorted out his "little buddy" was back......and in my position.

As a result of being suddenly unemployed I find myself under alot less stress, if you can believe it, than I was while I was working for "The Tyrant".  There are several options available that have been lurking in the background of my life since last year and I can't really decide which way to go. School? Self employment? Moving back to Colorado?

The past year has been insane between Sean and I separating, work, moving, buying a house, Sean dieing, The Daughter deciding she needed to get married at 17, PB moving back in with all of his prejudices firmly in place that his dad put there, etc.  Now my job of just over two years that I thought was secure and what I would be doing for a good long time is gone.

I could go back to school and finish.  That would, for the most part require moving.  Not really in the mood to move since I've decided I like it here--all the snow and wildlife and outdoor stuff to do.  I have a couple of online businesses. None of which are doing real great--unfortunately.  I could alway get another job, but quite frankly I'm really tired of working really hard so someone else can make the big bucks.

What I've kind of decided is that I'm going to apply for unemployment right now and see what happens next.  I believe there has to be a reason for me leaving Pyro City.  Something else needs done.  I don't know what it is so until it reveals itself I think I will just "drift" along looking for it.  Really don't know what else to do.  I have a million projects, knitting, home, etc that all need my attention so in the mean time I will pursue those and try to get ahead.

What a year!

Let It Snow!

It finally got cold enough here in the valley to snow. It started last night and has snowed almost all day today. Unfortunately, it is melting pretty fast, but here is a picture of it this afternoon. I love snow. I really should live somewhere where it snows more often and stays for the winter.

Saturday we went up into the mountains and took the kids sledding. It was alot of fun! The kids wanted to go on Sunday again, but it was blizzarding in the mountains.

Here are pictures of the Christmas gifts that I finished over the weekend.

These are for the Son. He insists on wearing his socks inside and outside--without shoes. As a result, he wears out his socks too fast. I thought that maybe these would be soft like socks, but he could wear them outside too. (I will sew a leather sole onto the bottoms when he opens them). I love this pattern, it is so easy and the boots are warm and wonderful to wear.

TA-DA! I finally got over the SMS and made the other mitten! The thumb on these mittens are THE BIGGEST PAIN! I have to admit it though, the second mitten went REALLY fast. These will be a fun surprise for my friend for Christmas. I made mittens and a hat and some fingerless gloves for her kids and husband as well.

So, now I am off to finish HoneyBunny's socks and hopefully my December Sockamania socks.

Happy Knitting!

Recovery Tuesday

Usually Monday's are my weekend recovery days. However, it poured rain Sunday and most of Monday which means that HoneyBunny couldn't work and would be home all day. Then the daughter had a doctor's appointment and somehow managed to convince us that she should get the whole day off from school. So Monday was more like Saturday.

I really could have used a Monday recovery this week. Last week was the daughter's birthday. Isn't interesting how children manage to make the most of this once a year event? We had to have a slumber party Friday, a regular party Saturday for all of her friends, a fun family outing Saturday night, and then a family party on Sunday. I don't remember seeing in the "child raising handbook" where children should have three birthday parties and an event of some sort each year in order for them to actually get a year older. I am still exhausted from just the slumber party! Now you see why I didn't manage to get another post in last week.

(this is a picture of the sockies I made for her)

So, now that HoneyBunny is back to work today, the daughter and son are at school, and all the parties are over I can take a deep breath and "enjoy the silence". Maybe I'll waste away the day knitting! Hey that's sounds like a really good idea. My new book showed up last week and I am so excited to make some of the socks I can barely sleep at night. (Please tell me I am not the only one that gets that excited about a knitting project).

It has been quite a few years since I purchased a sock book. Most of them are so boring--no offense--they are mostly for beginning sock knitters and contain patterns that I could knit in my sleep with both hands tied behind my back. Now don't get me wrong here, I love a good mindless sock once in a while, but I am at a point in my sock knitting career (?) that I want some excitement, something spicy and challenging, something that makes my pulse race, and keeps me awake thinking about it half of the night. This book has many patterns that fit this need. I can't put it down. Here I am trying to exercise a little self control by finishing one project at a time and I keep finding myself shopping for yarn to start my new projects or avoiding all of my knitting because what I have been working on is now boring. In fact--I am going to make a confession--I didn't finish my daughters blanket that she is dieing for me to finish for her (it was supposed to be for her birthday) because it has fallen into that "boring" catagory and, if I am not mistaken, I may have another black hole on my hands. Maybe she will get it for Christmas. When my yarn order gets here I don't know if I will be able to keep myself from starting some of those new socks or not. I am weak in the face of a new knitting book, but when faced with new yarn....

Happy Knitting!
